Governing La Republique du Cameroun from his village in the last eight months has made many French Cameroun political commentators to signal the final departure of President Biya from a country that he has ruled for 35 years. While many of his aides insisted that the 84 year-old dictator would return to Yaounde immediately after the new budget is dealt with in the National Assembly, the Southern Cameroons situation continued to worsen for his crumbling French Cameroun armed forces.

Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered from a well-placed source that word has been spreading through the ruling clan of the stealthy demise of many of Mr. Biya’s close associates such as the Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali and the Director of the Civil Cabinet, Martin Beinga Eboutou.  Many have apparently concluded that 2018 should be the end for the Cameroonian chief executive.

Flights to Canada, France, and Belgium have been filled with President Biya’s acolytes in the last months, with many allies of the President moving their wives and kids abroad.  Among those reported to have moved their families are some army generals.

International pressures increased strongly on President Biya to dialogue with the interim head of state of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia, Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and also arrange a peaceful transfer of power to the next generation and avoid a potentially violent siege in French Cameroun.

President Biya left Yaoundé for Mvomeka’a immediately after his trip to the Ivory Coast with his black Mercedes Benz accompanied by heavily armed soldiers who manned mounted machine guns and scowled at the CPDM onlookers who crowded the streets straining for a glimpse of the man who has so dominated the life of Cameroon.

There was widespread speculation among barons of the regime and French Camerounians recently that the real purpose of the Biya meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Abidjan was to gently pressure the Camerounian leader to abandon power. With age telling on him, Mr. Biya has publicly vowed to die in office.

CIR understands that the French are working with their friends including former Nigerian head of state Obasanjo to get them to help smooth Biya’s exit. In the coming days an EU-AU delegation are expected to travel to Yaoundé. The French and Americans are pursuing the same objective in Cameroon, which is a peaceful end to the Southern Cameroons crisis and the departure of Biya.

Our chief intelligence officer in Yaoundé hinted that France has reportedly developed a strongly antagonistic relation with the Southern Cameroons leadership over its quest for an independent state since the start of the revolution and is backing Biya to return the country to federalism and resume negotiations with pro Yaounde Southern Cameroons traditional rulers. Retired General James Tataw who also moonlights as the chief of Ossing village is presently in Manyu pushing for an Anglophone understanding and cooperation with the French Cameroun dominated army
