This is a product from his high-definition studio in Bomono-Douala, Cameroon. The album, comprising 13 songs, is a diverse mix of genres, including Makossa, Afrobeat, Zouk, and Rumba.

The album is a nostalgic reflection on his career debut, a blend of tradition and modernity, featuring complex, sophisticated instruments and rich orchestrations that showcase the singer’s artistic merits. He promised his fans the best, and he delivered.

Dear Fr. Dr. Tegha Afuhwi Nji,

Ever since our serendipitous encounter in Mamfe, Cameroon in 2012, I have always been amazed by the gift of your unmatchable intellect, your passion for knowledge, and the magnanimity which continues to mark your ascent of the academic ladder. I had long since developed a keen interest in your academic pursuits.

Over the years, especially at the Conferences in which I have been privileged to listen to your research, I have grown in my profound admiration of your ability to harmonize the Kingdom of Thought and the Kingdom of God, in a way that shows an inner entelechy between faith and reason, a relationship that cannot and should not be settled once and for all, given that every age is called upon to give an account of our hope in Christ (1 Peter 3:15).

Clearly, your doctoral work on Ratzinger and the doctrine of election in dialogue with the philosophical trends of modernity, from Descartes to Nietzsche, itself a uniquely ambitious project, at the prestigious Notre Dame University, and the Eli J. and Helen Shaheen Award in the Humanities that has followed it, are testimonies to the great gift of your intellect that continues to amaze and inspire some of us. I certainly speak for many Ratzingerians when I say how blessed we are having you as a young luminary in the Ratzinger Family, particularly the Ratzinger Neuer Schülerkreis, and that we look forward to the publication of your research.

You inspire me and many in the Ratzinger family. I have no doubt that someday you will win the prestigious Vatican Ratzinger Theology Prize, and by so doing, make Africa proud, and likewise you adoptive “home,” the USA, where you currently reside and will be serving as professor of Systematic Theology at the Graduate School of Theology of the Augustine Institute, Florissant, Missouri.

May you continue to open the path for us to appreciate all the more, the great theological legacy of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI. Thank you for cooperating with the grace of the intellect. We will continue to count on you to help us to believe, in order to understand, and to understand, the better to believe, and to forge an understanding of culture that is truly open to its transcendental telos. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan enters the billionaire club

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has joined the billionaire club for the first time, becoming one of the world’s richest actors, according to a new list.

The 59-year-old’s net worth is estimated at a staggering $1.4bn (£1.03bn), according to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, an annual ranking of India’s wealthiest individuals.

This puts him in the league of global celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, pop star Rihanna, golfer Tiger Woods, and singer Taylor Swift, whose net worth is pegged at $1.6bn by Forbes magazine.

Other Bollywood personalities on the list include actress Juhi Chawla, actors Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan and film director Karan Johar.

Often called Bollywood’s king of romance, Khan has spent more than three decades in the Hindi film industry and reinvented himself from being an actor to running a major production house and owning a cricket team.

“Khan’s billionaire status is driven mainly by his stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment [his production company] and Knight Rider Sports [his IPL cricket club],” Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and chief researcher at Hurun India, told the BBC.

His other sources of income include film earnings, advertisements as well as reported investments in real estate across the world.

Khan’s entry in the billionaire list is a reflection of the changing nature of India’s economic growth drivers, according to Mr Junaid.

“As the Indian economy matures and moves to its next stage of wealth creation, we are seeing new centres of value emerge beyond traditional sectors like manufacturing, IT and banking,” Mr Junaid said.

Sports, entertainment and IP-driven businesses are now “serious engines of wealth creation in India”, he added.

According to Mr Junaid, this is similar to the evolution that took place in the US, where rich lists that were once dominated by industrialists and bankers now feature sports-team owners, media moguls and celebrity-led brands – from Michael Jordan and LeBron James to Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé.

But according to Forbes, while many celebrities are incredibly wealthy, “it’s rare for their net worths to stretch all the way to ten figures”, with less than two dozen people on the planet having accomplished that feat.

While four other Bollywood celebrities and their families made it to Hurun’s list this year, Khan’s wealth is estimated to be significantly higher.

Juhi Chawla – Khan’s co-star in several films – and her family feature at number two, with a net worth of $880m.

The list also includes Hrithik Roshan, who ranks third with a net worth of $260m, followed by director Karan Johar at around $200m and actor Amitabh Bachchan and his family at around $183m.

In 2024, Johar made headlines when he sold a 50% stake in his production company Dharma Productions,to billionaire Adar Poonawalla – India’s top vaccine maker – for $119m.

India’s overall billionaire count has crossed 350 people this year, with billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani retaining the top two spots according to Hurun India.

Germany: Cameroonian nurses set up association

A group of Cameroonian nurses in the Federal Republic of Germany have set up the Cameroonian Nurses Association (CNA) to help carry out their valuable work.

The organization, which will be inaugurated this Saturday, comprises registered nurses working in Germany from Cameroon.

There is a huge number of Cameroonian nurses in Germany at the moment and many are based in the North Rhein Westphalia region.

Cameroon Concord News understands that the group was established to unite nurses of Cameroonian origin under one umbrella and to promote excellence in healthcare, professional development and community well-being.

The Cameroonian Nurses Association (CNA) also strives to provide nursing support, share vital health information, and encourage healthy lifestyles within communities.

Through collaboration with institutions in Cameroon and Germany, CNA aims to enhance nursing education and create pathways for Cameroonian nurses aspiring to build successful careers abroad, while contributing to improved healthcare standards at home and beyond.

The founding members are experienced healthcare professionals who are seeking to bring Cameroonian nurses together to promote collaboration, mutual support, and professional growth.

The Saturday 20 maiden event beginning at 4 pm prompt will be hosted at Talent Werkstatt, Oberhausenerstr 192 in Mulheim Styrum.

Manyu Cultural Festival: heritage and unity as Birmingham hosts first-of-its-kind jamboree in the UK

In March 2021, the Manyu community in Europe, together with friends of Manyu, came together with an ambitious vision: to create a forum where members could connect, support one another, and foster both personal and professional growth. The goal was to build a thriving, vibrant Manyu community in Europe. The initiative also aimed to provide a platform for Manyu children to interact and thrive while complementing and collaborating with existing Manyu associations across Europe. The name of this new association is Manyu Solidarity Group.

During the weekend of 29-31 August 2025, the streets of Birmingham came alive with rhythm, flavour, and tradition as the city hosted a three-day cultural festival unlike anything the Manyu community in the UK had ever seen. The festival was powered by Manyu Solidarity Group. From Friday’s welcoming meet-and-greet to Saturday’s vibrant showcase of traditional performances and Sunday’s barbecue finale, the event drew hundreds of attendees, some reconnecting with their roots, others discovering them for the first time. For a first-time event, the turnout was extraordinary: over 380 guests on the opening night, more than 550 on Saturday, and a lively crowd of over 340 for Sunday’s barbecue. This was more than a cultural celebration; it was a bridge across generations and a show of unity within the Manyu community Europe.

The Friday evening merriments set the tone for the festival and were emceed by Yvette Bissong and Dr. Nelson Agbor. Guests were welcomed with warm smiles, a delicious tanchut soup, and complimentary drinks. “I haven’t tasted tanchut soup like this in my over 50 years on earth,” said Lady Claire Obioma from London. The atmosphere was one of joy and reconnection, further lifted by the presence of esteemed Manyu traditionalists, including Sessekou Gaspari of Norway, Chief Eyong Paolo of MECA Germany and Sessekou Wilson Eyong of Ireland. The crowning moment of the night was the entrance of His Royal Highness Chief Prof. Negbo Abangma, who effortlessly blended history with his present. It was a truly glorious sight. As Mgbe UK performed their Manyu cultural formalities, the evening faded with love and anticipation for the next day.

If Friday was for tasting, Saturday was for witnessing. Under the leadership of Nfor Mgbe Dr. Agbortoko, the day featured live Monikim dances, Bekundi processions, and a show-stopping Obasinjom invocation. The energy was electric as attendees didn’t just watch, they participated. For some, it was their first experience of live Manyu cultural performances; for others, it was a long-awaited reconnection with their custom. “I am so proud of what the organising team and many volunteers achieved this weekend,” said Prince Julian Ebai, Chairman of Manyu Solidarity Group. Free food was available throughout the event, with snacks and drinks offered at below-market prices. A highlight for the children was some surprised pizzas from Domino’s. In the end, strangers became friends, and the sight of Nyene Mawn, Eyumema, MOHWA, and Manyu Simple Sisters celebrating together with laughter and joy was simply heart-warming. Manyu in Europe was truly alive.

By Sunday, the festival had already secured its place as a landmark event. The closing day featured a barbecue made possible by the thoughtfulness and hard work of Ms. Aggie Epaw, Mr. Valery Bissong, Mr Jerry Eko and Ms. Jacqui Bissong. The air was filled with the aroma of sizzling meats, fish, and burgers, accompanied once again by free drinks. Children played in the park, and many remarked that the weekend had shown them their culture and community is alive and thriving. Phone numbers were exchanged, future plans were made, and discussions of making the Manyu Cultural Festival an annual tradition were put in place.

What set the weekend apart was its authenticity and spirit. It was the first time this cultural tapestry had been woven so vibrantly and publicly in the UK. “We started with a dream and a few determined people,” said Chief Fidelis Takor of the organising committee. Prince Ebai added a note of reflection: “We must start looking after the vulnerable in our community and use every opportunity to celebrate ourselves. We can’t wait until someone dies to shower them with praises. Manyu Solidarity Group will continue to invest its energy in pastoral care to ensure our members feel loved and supported.”

The weekend marked the launch of Eyoungoh Manyu, a remarkable compilation of academic works by distinguished Manyu minds and scholars. Contributors came from as far as the United States, Cameroon, and Norway. The book is highly recommended for its educative, informative, and persuasive nature. Eyoungoh Manyu stands as both a documentary and an archive of our proud culture, traditions, and customs—reminding all Manyus that they are custodians of a unique heritage that must be preserved.

Thanks to the trust, energy, and commitment of its members, Manyu Solidarity group has grown to over 445 members, making it the largest gathering of Manyu people and their friends in Europe. Over the past two years, its members and leaders have regularly reached out to those in need of companionship by visiting, shopping, and even cooking for them. It is now standard practice for the leadership of Manyu Solidarity to call unwell members, send get-well-soon cards, and quietly help individuals with their CVs, enabling many to regain paid employment. Prince Julian Ebai closed the barbecue with these words: “Over the coming days, after a rigorous accounting process for transparency and visibility, the proceeds realized will be sent to Mamfe General Hospital to address a specific need. Your attendance and support this weekend is a clear declaration that we are all committed—working hand in hand—for an even better spectacle in 2026. See you all next year, by God’s grace.”

Chief Oru, President of MECA Birmingham also reminded attendees: “For just £35, many have enjoyed a memorable event, made possible by the sacrifices of the organizing committee and the generous contributions of groups and individuals who believe in Manyu. We must continue to move from strength to strength, as one indivisible Manyu, while respecting the diversity and autonomy of our unique communities in the UK and across Europe.”

MOHWA Global, Nyene Mawn Europe, Manyu Simple Sisters, EYUMEMA, and the Cameroon High Commission, Mr and Mrs Charles Mambo, were among the many generous donors who helped make the Manyu Cultural festival a success. As the grills cooled on Sunday evening and the last notes of music faded into the warm August night, one thing was clear: this was not the end, but the beginning of something greater. “This is history,” said Ms. Yvette Bissong of Kent. “And great actions always demand a sequel. 2026 here we come.”

Congo-Kinshasa declares new Ebola outbreak as death toll reaches 15

Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have declared a new outbreak of the Ebola virus, which has killed 15 people since the end of August, the health minister said Thursday.

The new outbreak is in central Kasai province, Samuel Roger Kamba told reporters in the capital Kinshasa.

The last outbreak of Ebola in the vast central African nation was three years ago and killed six people.

Twenty-eight suspected cases have been recorded, according to provisional figures, with the first case reported on August 20 in a 34-year-old pregnant woman who was admitted to hospital.

“It’s the 16th outbreak recorded in our country,” Kamba said.

First identified in 1976 and thought to have crossed over from bats, Ebola is a deadly viral disease spread through direct contact with bodily fluids, causing severe bleeding and organ failure.

The deadliest outbreak in the DRC – whose population numbers more than 100 million – killed nearly 2,300 people between 2018 and 2020.

Six strains of Ebola exist.

Italian designer Giorgio Armani dies

The Italian fashion designer and billionaire brand owner Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91.

He was the archetype of Italian style and elegance, reimagining men’s and women’s suits for a modern audience.

His company Armani expanded from fashion into an empire spanning beauty, fragrance, music, sport and even luxury hotels, bringing in more than £2bn a year.

Donatella Versace paid tribute to the late designer on her Instagram page, posting a picture of him, saying: “The world lost a giant today, he made history and will be remembered forever.”

Cameroonian bags PhD in Swiss School of Business Research in Zurich

Ogbe Abunaw has joined the long list of Cameroonian academics that have successfully conquered education home and abroad after he bagged a PhD in Strategic Management from the Swiss School of Business Research in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr Ogbe Abunaw said it was not an easy journey from the University of Buea Cameroon where he earned his BA with honors in History and Political Science to the University of Bolton, UK where he earned his MA in Human Resource Management to Harvard University, USA where he again earned a Professional Development Certificate in Management and Leadership.

Speaking exclusively to Cameroon Concord News, Dr Ogbe Abunaw said he remains deeply grateful to his mother Hon Rose Abunaw for her unwavering love, and support. Dr Ogbe furthered that this achievement belongs to her and to his entire family; friends and mentors who helped turn his dream into reality.

Manyu Cultural Jamboree UK: Cameroon Concord unveils Birmingham team

Cameroon Concord News Group has unveiled a reporting team for the Manyu Cultural Jamboree this weekend in Birmingham City.

Chi Prudence Asong will continue to cover all events in the Midlands including Wales and Northern Ireland, while also reporting from London under the direct supervision of our London Bureau Chief Asu Isong.

Camcord’s senior international correspondent Soter Agbaw-Ebai has been authorized to make the trip to Birmingham after covering the MECA Leicester election and the Manyu Women’s International Association (Nyene Mawn) Residential Convention in Paris.

Nelly Epupa has been named Cameroon Concord News Group reporter to cover the Manyu Cultural Jamboree activity on Friday. And she will also report on all activities on Saturday.

Newsrooms at all major Cameroonian media organizations have had to rethink their strategies and make their reporting teams to remain relevant to the Cameroonian diaspora.

Southern Cameroons Crisis: Catholic schools pivot to technical education

As Cameroon’s English-speaking regions grapple with a devastating separatist violence and economic collapse, Catholic schools are launching a bold shift toward technical education to transform jobless graduates into community “problem solvers.”

The Bishops and Catholic Education Secretaries of the Bamenda Episcopal Province – which covers the Anglophone regions – announced the strategic pivot during their August 18 Provincial Council of Education meeting that was held on the sidelines of the 78th Ordinary Meeting of Bishops of the Episcopal Conference taking place in Bamenda from Aug. 16-22.

Moving away from theoretical curricula that “churn out job seekers,” Catholic schools will now prioritize technology and engineering, which emphasize hands-on, problem-based learning that encourage students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations.

Father Charles Ngouobi, the Catholic Education Secretary for the Archdiocese of Bamenda said the diocese has opted for that shift that could “bring major change in the country by introducing technical and tertiary education into our secondary schools.”

His words echo the desperation of university graduates who told Crux they “live hand to mouth, barely able to feed themselves.”

Alphonse Mbidzenyuy, a lay Christian youth in the same diocese graduated from the University of Yaoundé with a master’s degree in history. Today, he washes cars to survive.

“Academic degrees don’t mean a thing in Cameroon today,” he told Crux. Earlier this year, some 200 PhD holders staged a demonstration in the capital Yaoundé, complaining that they hadn’t been recruited into the civil service. Many, like Mbidzenyuy, have deferred to doing menial jobs to keep body and soul together.

The rate of unemployment in Cameroon looks low, at just 3.51 percent. In urban centers, however, the situation is dire, with between 24 percent – 35 percent of youth unemployment. All of these still mask a deeper problem of under-employment and a large informal sector.

“If you look around town today, in Bamenda, for example, you find that we have many boys who are bike riders. And it will embarrass you to know that some of these boys have master’s degrees,” Ngouobi said.

“Therefore, we have decided to go technical with the belief that when these children graduate, they will be able to employ not just themselves but also create jobs for others. And we want to implement a system also that will be able to enable students who are in the general education, especially the science students, to be able to make a bridge from general education to technical education,” the priest said.

Father Edward Siani, the Catholic Education Secretary for the Mamfe Diocese in the country’s South West region, explained further that Catholic education “is about the formation of the whole person.”

“And we are trying as much as possible, be it from the kindergarten, to form kids, to form people who will be catalysts of change in the community where they find themselves. That is, we start helping them to be problem solvers in the community,” he said.

The radical switch to technical education, according to Archbishop Andrew Nkea of Bamenda came because he listened to the Christians and they said they wanted to pivot from grammar schools to technical schools.

“The people told me, Bishop, we don’t want any more grammar schools here. We want technical schools. So I have St. Andrew’s Technical College. We have opened St. Peter and Paul Technical College in Ndop. We are opening another technical college in Bambui. And we are adding a technical section to St. Joseph school, Mankon,” Nkea told Crux.

“My focus in this diocese is on technical education. I keep insisting that China and the other developed economies did not develop because they knew History and Geography. They made progress because they trained the children to use their hands and create employment for themselves,” he explained.

The archbishop said it was critical for Cameroon as a country to rethink its educational system, noting that Catholic schools in his diocese will start producing engineers “at very young ages.”

He cited the case of a young boy who used bamboo to make his car powered with batteries, and which he used a remote control to drive it.

“These are brains wasting in Africa, and yet our educational system cannot tap these brains and that is why my focus in the archdiocese of Bamenda is technical education,” Nkea said.

The Provincial Council of Education meeting was also used to assess the performance of Catholic schools in the Episcopal Province over the past year.

Bishop George Nkuo of Kumbo noted that the 2024/25 academic year was a resounding success, given the performance of Catholic schools at the General Certificate of Education Examinations.

“Our schools performed exceedingly well in the last academic year, with many of them scoring a hundred per cent at the GCE examinations,” he said.

However, he regretted that the continuing separatist violence in several parts of the region doesn’t create the perfect environment for children to learn.

Nkuo complained about problems with infrastructure, explaining that most school infrastructure have dilapidated, some have been destroyed by the conflict.
