“Biya regime unfit to resolve the Anglophone crisis” Human rights Commission Chairman
The so-called Chairman of the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms, Chemuta Divine has said in a statement issued on October the 9th 2017 that the current Biya administration is unfit to resolve the Southern Cameroons crisis. The Chemuta Divine declaration also observed that the government should be disqualified from the negotiating table-a similar position held by the President of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC), Prof Maurice Kamto.
The leadership of the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms revealed in the press release that the body was currently in search of a credible mediator to end the Anglophone crisis that started since November 2016. During an outing on October 10, 2017, Chemuta Divine said that if the crisis has taken a dramatic U turn, it is because the Government thinks only they can provide solutions to the conflict.
The human rights commission has advocated the presence of a mediator to facilitate dialogue and find solutions to the crisis. However, it must be said that the Commission is looking for a mediator who will be impartial, with moral integrity. The French Cameroun government again has shut down internet services throughout Southern Cameroons and continues to carry out military operations and massive arrests within the territory. Hundreds of Southern Cameroons youth have been killed and many have fled to neighboring Nigeria.
