SAMUEL ETO’O will not play for Antalyaspor until further notice following a bitter row over comments he made on social media.
The Turkish side confirmed the news on Wednesday after the striker had written on his Instagram account he was not being given respect for his achievements due to him being black.
Cameroon star Eto’o joined Antalyaspor last year but his spell has turned sour in recent times following speculation he was leaving to join arch-rivals Besiktas. Things have got worse for the former Barcelona, Inter Milan, Everton and Chelseaveteran since the season began. His side have only collected one point from their opening four league matches.
Eto’o said via his Instagram account, alongside a screenshot of the accolades he has won in his career: “Reminder – perhaps some people do not feel respect for me because I am black. “But I am not going to come down from the level I have reached. I have been in this game for 18 years.”
