CNN says 4 US troops killed in Niger would have occurred with “a potential complicity”
The ambush against a joint patrol that killed four US troops on October 04 would have occurred with “a potential complicity” between villagers and the Islamic state, revealed US channel CNN.
Initial investigations by US military officials hints that American soldiers killed in an ambush were reportedly trapped with the villagers’ complicity.
According to AFRICOM, US soldiers were on mission to meet with local leaders and “develop relationships. The Americans then felt that the operation was safe and did not require air support.Eventually, US forces fell into an ambush.
CNN, quoting the Ministry of Defense, reported that surviving soldiers who attended the meeting with local leaders said “they suspected the villagers of delaying their departure, keeping them waiting.”
Investigations are still under way to shed light on this attack, the first in which American soldiers lose their lives in Niger.
